Hallie has a secret. She’s in love. He’s perfect for her in every way, but he’s seriously out of bounds. And her friends aren’t going to help her because what they do know is that Hallie doesn’t have long to live. Time is running out…
Flo has a dilemma. She really likes Zander. But his scary sister won’t be even faintly amused if she thinks Zander and Flo are becoming friends – let alone anything more.
Tasha has a problem. Her new boyfriend is the adventurous type. And she’s afraid one of his adventures will go badly wrong.
THREE AMAZING THINGS ABOUT YOU begins as Hallie goes on a journey. A donor has been found and she’s about to be given new lungs. But whose?
Three things about me:
1. I don’t very often show my emotions
2. Your books always make me cry
3. This was probably my favourite of all your books
The main character in the book is a 28yr old called Hallie who has CF and runs an online website as an agony aunt. In order to give out her advice to total strangers, she asks each person writing in to tell her three things about her. Hallie (or Rosie as she is known to her follows) always gets her replies spot on. They are so funny and well written.
As well as Hallie, there are also two other main female characters – Flo and Tasha. When the book started I thought that somehow we would find out that they are all school friends who know each other but this is not the case – their paths do all cross but not in the way you would expect. In keeping with the “three” theme (three is the magic number after all), there are 3 very different stories to follow and 3 men to fall in love with too.
It’s very difficult to write a blog about this book without ruining the plot so i will say this: Jill Mansell has done it again, she has excelled herself! This book was FANTASTIC! I started reading this on an early morning flight and I was hooked on the book about 3 pages in. It was the kind of book i wished i had saved for a day at home when i could have devoured it in one long sitting (while ignoring the housework, the uni work and….well, the kids!). I have read enough Jill Mansell books by now to know when tissues are going to be needed and i could sense this was coming about 3/4 of the way in – i immediately turned the kindle off and saved the rest for home! Thank goodness i did!! About 4 pages in when i resumed my reading and i was crying my eyes out – tears of happiness and sadness. A wonderful book.
I have sat here trying to think about which love story I loved the best and I am torn….really torn….but I think it has to be Tasha’s just because of how they meet and get together.
Without giving anything away, I will leave you with…well, three things….:
1. PLEASE PLEASE sign the organ donor register (and let your loved ones know about your wishes)
2. PLEASE PLEASE Jill, can we have a follow up novella?
3. PLEASE PLEASE Jill, can you tweet a picture of a cat who looks like Jeremy? I have an imagine in my head and i need it to be right!
