Book Description:

Viv arrives at Wildflower Cottage, a tumbledown animal sanctuary, for the summer. Her job is to help with the admin, but the truth is she is here for something much closer to her heart…
Geraldine runs the Wildflower Cottage sanctuary. She escaped from her past to find happiness here, but now her place of refuge is about to come under threat. Can she keep her history at bay and her future safe?
Back home, Viv’s mother Stel thinks she might have found a man who will treat her right for once. Ian is kind, considerate, and clearly head over heels for her. That’s what she has wanted all along, isn’t it…?

My Review:

I have been waiting for this book for AGES and it didn’t disappoint! The book is text book Milly Johnson! Full of fun, friendships, laughter, drama, love and – of course – the supernatural!

The book focuses on Viv Blackbird who moves to the mysterious village of Ironmist to start a new job. Her new boss is locked in a dispute with the rich and powerful Leighton family over the future of his animal sanctuary, Viv has her own mysterious reasons for wanting to be in Ironmist, as does the other employee Geraldine. Back home, Viv’s mum Stel has a fantastically fun group of menopausal friends who meet weekly and call themselves “the old Spice Girls”. Each of the ladies have their own secrets and own dramas going on.

As always, Milly ties up all of the stories and overlaps and links some of them together in a surprising way!   My favourite character was Ursula and I loved the relationship between her and Viv.

I just wish the book were 100 pages longer! I wanted more!! MORE! MORE!

A fantastic Summer holiday read!

Don’t forget to look out for the mentions of old characters!
